Alex BRIDGES

MFA Printmaking

artist bio

Alex Bridges is a visual artist from North Carolina who came to Northern Illinois University to acquire her Master's Degree in Fine Arts with a focus in printmaking.

She received her Bachelor's of Fine Art concentrating in printmaking and textiles at East Carolina University. Throughout her practice, she has developed an appreciation for combining multiple mediums of printmaking and this has evolved into her non-traditional way of making work. Her process of deconstructing editions and turning them into large installations and mixed media pieces continues to inspire each new piece.

While growing her personal practice, Alex has also gained experience working in the Jack Olson Gallery for part of her graduate research assistantship. Herself and fellow graduate student Rachel Beer curated a group exhibition titled “Meeting of Makers, Merging of Space” which sparked her interest in museum studies. Alex’s next step is aimed towards a position in a museum or gallery with an interest in collaboration and curation.
