Artist Statement

I am a variety artist that creates pieces based on whatever is my main interest at the time of creation. Most of my pieces use any traditional 2-D mediums (drawings, inks, paintings, etc.) or digital 2-D and 3-D (digital drawings, virtual 3-D models, all work associated with video games and digital environments, etc.) mediums, but I am constantly expanding my skills and fine-tuning those I already have. For each unique piece, I typically follow my instincts on what to do. This usually means I could be meticulously planning out one piece, but jumping in recklessly with another. I will also take into account who I’m making the piece for since I take great care with the work I make for others. It may seem overwhelming, chaotic, or maddening - and it is - but I’m happy with this method of creation. I find it satisfying since it allows me to be limitless, flexible, and challenged while allowing me to practice skills with any medium I choose.

FinNix is a traditional 2-D and digital 2-D/3-D variety artist currently based in northern Illinois, USA. They’ve been practicing art for well over a decade and are well versed in most traditional 2-D mediums with an emphasis on dry mediums, inks, and paints. They have been practicing digital 2-D art, primarily using Adobe Photoshop, for about 7 years. More recently, they have created 3-D pieces focused on environment construction and characters. During their studies at Northern Illinois University, FinNix had also gained experience in a number of miscellaneous mediums involved in animation, video editing, photography, and the design of soundscapes. They enjoy being flexible and quick to learn new skills or tools. Because of the chaotic variety the artist leans into, FinNix chooses not to limit the inspirations for their art. They’ve prepared themselves for the working conditions of commission or freelance work and few pieces of personal art exist that they would willingly display. Most of the art that does exist close to the heart of their creator seems to be sporadic and lacking any common thread aside from FinNix’s interest. Among the pieces that do have a clear link, the work shown consistently focused on themes of the universe or its galaxies. FinNix has yet to give a clear answer on what these pieces mean or why they seem so closely tied to outer space.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sounds like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest.
