Artist Statement
Many things that have influenced me in my life have made me the person I am today and play a big part in what I like to create. When I was younger, there were many events in my life that made things seem very dark and overwhelming. Things like books and video games were like a sanctuary to me and were what inspired me to start creating. As an artist, I want to give back and also create safe spaces for people who need a place to let their imagination run wild.
Artist Bio
Dorothy was born and raised in Ashton, Maryland. She completed high school there before moving to Belvidere, IL. There she graduated from from Rock Valley College with an Associate of Science in 2019. She is now a recent graduate of Northern Illinois University, earning a B.F.A with an emphasis in illustration. She was inspired to start creating art through the shows and video games she saw as a child. Even now most of her art is made with her love of creating different concepts that instill different emotions to her audience.
