My work aims to explore environments driven by the fantastical elements of horror and fiction. I often explore unnerving and uncomfortable themes to not only push my own comfort level but the comfort level of others. As someone who has dealt with a fair amount of death, both physically and metaphorically, I use that experience to help develop aspects of my work as well as incorporating my love and connection with nature to further push the relationship between the two. As a whole, my work is continuously delving into the never-ending connection of nature and the more grotesque side of it.

Bachelor of Fine Arts with an Emphasis in Illustration
Growing up in Moline, IL, I was always playing outside in nature. When I was a child, rocks, animals, and plant life were very intriguing to me. Often times my friends and I would be knee deep in the water of a nearby creek or riding our bikes around town. As I got older, my parents would take me on camping trips to some of my now favorite places like Devil’s Lake and the Black Hills of South Dakota. In addition to nature, video games became a passion of mine from early on. If I wasn’t outside, I would be in my room playing video games to delve into the made up worlds within them.
I continued to go hiking and camping throughout my time at NIU. I find that I now use this deep connection with nature and video games to craft imaginative environments and character concepts to explore my own worlds through illustration.
