About My Senior Project

For my project, I was inspired by my own struggles of trying to find confidence within a gym environment. I have been exercising for several years, and it as become a love of mine. However, after the COVID-19 lockdown, I became comfortable working out in my own home. When the gyms reopened, it was hard to get used to being in a gym again. I wished there were a gym for women near me, but when there wasn’t, I decided to make my own.

I also wanted to make this gym (even though it doesn’t actually exist) because of the sexualization and judgment that plagues the fitness industry. I think having a women only gym could help many women grow their confidence without having to worry about what others are thinking. I also wanted to push the femininity of the branding of the gym, because I wanted to drive the message that femininity is a strength, and something to be celebrated.

This project was created from leaves, sticks, flowers, and other things I found at a local park. The phrase ‘Still Growing’ seemed appropriate.
