Artist statement

I have always been inspired by music and nostalgia for as long as I can remember. Both have been a large part of my life and two things that I heavily rely on, especially in times of trouble. Through music and nostalgia, I am inspired by the freedom and rebellion of 70’s punk culture, as well as cartoons and graphic novels that explore themes such as mental health, sense of self, and love. I seek to represent ideas of nostalgia and music through the use of digital and traditional mediums in my work. My work is very much interdisciplinary, with the use of drawing, watercolor, paint, screen print, and digital techniques. I hope audiences can feel their own sense of nostalgia and appreciation through my work. I leave the interpretation up to the viewer and hope they can find something that strikes a chord with them when they view my posters or my illustrations and drawings. If there is one thing I want audiences to take away, it’s that I don’t stick to one idea or technique. I love to explore and discover what I can do with each new piece.
