Artist statement

I focus on how artwork can tell a story, stir emotion, and engage with the audience— who in turn, create their own narrative colored by their own experiences. I incorporate figures and facial expressions to further enhance the story.

My parents immigrated to the United States, and I was raised here, but because of this, sometimes I have trouble communicating to my family. There is a disconnect in our ways of thinking and problem-solving. However, what I’ve always admired in art is how it can create a discussion and bring people closer to an understanding. It is powerful how it can quickly communicate to others. Art is the primary way I express myself. I also highlight my Mexican culture in my art and create representation that I would have liked to see growing up, and for others to see my own enthusiasm I’ve placed into my artwork and narratives.
